Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse Events
Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse Kayak Volunteer Orientation
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse is looking for volunteers to help us both onshore and on the water. No experience is necessary, but you have to like people and fun! Our volunteers take trips around the harbor and learn paddling and safety skills. There is no minimum volunteering requirement.
The Boathouse provides opportunities for all New York residents and other Brooklyn Bridge Park visitors to participate in human-powered boating, at no or minimal cost, and promotes environmentally sound policies that will be conducive to human-powered boating in the East River and New York Harbor. We offer free kayaking every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday starting on the last Wednesday in May. Kayakers can paddle around our protected embayment for 20 minutes with stunning views of the NYC skyline. We provide the boats, paddles, and life vests.
