Textile Collection: Inventory and Photographs- Smith County Historical Society - Ages 18+
-
Our textile collection has items going all the way back to the 1850s. Many of these items need their location recorded, in order to better find said items when planning an exhibit. Taking photographs of each item with a camera phone and emailing those to the archives, makes it easy to add to the Past Perfect database. We need detail oriented volunteers, that can take copeas notes, be gentle with fragile items, and switch gears quickly if further conservation is needed. The project is indoors upstairs in the auditorium (in the air conditioning) and we will have space for 4 volunteers. Your phones are needed, but gloves and other supplies are provided. The Children's Park of Tyler Spring Clean-Up Crusade - Ages 13+*Needs a minimum of 10 people, has a max of 50*
-
Join us at The Children's Park of Tyler for our Spring Clean-Up Crusade! Your efforts will help refresh and revitalize the park after a long winter. The Children’s Park is a special place, with over 800 names engraved along the sidewalks, it holds particular significance for families who have lost a child. It's also a wonderful space for families to connect, offering opportunities for children to experience the joys of natural play. During this clean-up event, you will assist us by raking leaves, planting flowers and trees, and spreading mulch. Additionally, we need steady hands to paint the engravings on stones, making the names of the children being remembered more visible. We will provide all the necessary tools, along with snacks and water. Please wear cool clothing and comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Your hard work and dedication will make a real difference - let’s come together to keep our park looking its best for our community! Located at 110 E Dobbs St, Tyler, Tx
